Obituary for Yvonne Sanford Davis

Yvonne Sanford Davis, 85, passed away on December 30, 2017. A family graveside was held on December 31, 2017 at Roseland Park Cemetery with Dwight Carr officiating.
After graduating from William Carey College, Yvonne married Morton Lee “Red” Davis and moved to Midland, TX for 13 years, then moved to Anchorage, AK for 3 years. They moved back to Lumberton, MS and were the owners of The Trading Post grocery store in Poplarville.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Charles and Minnie Sanford; her siblings, Lillian Arrington, Lois Carr, Edith Seal, and Leon Sanford.
She is survived by her daughter, Susie Davis of Hattiesburg; her son, Alan Davis (Penny) of Hattiesburg; and her grandson, Kevin Davis of Franklin, TN.
Yvonne was gifted with the talent for making weeds look like bouquet masterpieces, an imagination to keep children entertained with fun filled days and creative talents in all areas in between. She was famous for her Hobo Stews, her slip-n-slide, and decorating for Christmas, her favorite holiday. She loved and worked on her family genealogy for years. Her saying” That’s better than snuff and half as dusty” will always bring a smile and sweet remembrance.
A special thanks to the staff of Hattiesburg Health and Rehab and the Kare-In-home Hospice.
