Obituary for Sunny Simmons Martin

Sunny Simmons Martin, 38, of Hattiesburg, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 26, 2017, at Forrest General Hospital. Services will be at 1 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Heritage United Methodist Church, followed by burial in the William Allen Family Cemetery in McComb.
Sunny lived out her name and was a ray of sunshine. She was blessed with many musical talents. God gave her a melodious voice which she used to glorify him along with being a gifted piano player. She spent many of her early years performing in high school productions along with local theaters. Sunny was extremely outgoing, vivacious, adventurous, and enjoyed a challenge. She had a thirst for knowledge and was always learning. She practiced as a Registered nurse for many years and then furthered her education and practiced as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist at Wesley Medical Center, retiring in 2014. She was a loving wife, a caring mother, and a devout friend. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church.
Sunny was preceded in death by her father, Rex Robert Simmons, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Dale Martin of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Kailyn Brewer of Petal and Kristen Martin of Hattiesburg; her mother, Debbie Simmons of Progress; sisters, Dawn Johnson of Hattiesburg and Stacey Tamor of McComb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 12 p.m. until the services, all at the church.
