She was born May 29, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Phillip and Bertha Overstreet. Then, in January of 1948, she eloped and married the love of her life, Harry Hidle Anderson, who proceeded in death after sixty-two years of marriage in 2010. She is also preceded in death by her mother and father, Phillip and Bertha Overstreet; two brothers, Richard Overstreet, Phillip Overstreet Jr.; and three sisters, Cynthia Jeffreys, Catherine Zehner, and Phyllis Bonds.
She loved to spoil the people around her. She sewed many dresses for her grandchildren and doll clothes for her grandchildren’s Barbies. Her hands were rarely still. She also shared her love with food such as fresh purple hull peas, tomatoes and corn from Harry’s garden. She loved to do arts and crafts and her all time favorite, finding a bargain at a yard sale. Harry and Shirley also enjoyed playing cards. They spent many evenings at son-in-law and daughter Karen’s home playing International Rummy. For many years Shirley worked at Pace Assembly God Church where she also attended faithfully since 1993 along side of Keith, Karen, and children. Shirley also loved music and to sing. She was a member of her church choir for many years.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Wayne Anderson of Lumberton, and Terry Anderson of Hattiesburg,; three daughters, Sandra Cassidy of Crestview, FL, Gayle Bryant of Warren, TX, Karen Raffield of Milton, FL; two sisters, Bonnie Brackett of Gulfport, Jean Myers of Cincinnati, OH; a brother, Rodney Overstreet of Hattiesburg; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
