Obituary for Nancy Jean Mooney Smith

Nancy Jean Mooney Smith, 82, of Lumberton, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Asbury Hospice House. Visitation will be Saturday, May 25, 2019 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. at First Pentecostal Church of Purvis with services immediately following at 3 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Coaltown Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was a member of First Pentecostal Church of Purvis. Her three favorite hobbies were church, reading, and gardening, in that order. She was a caregiver for 30 years before retiring in 2017.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, R.J. Mooney; her second husband, Clarence Smith; three sons, Johnny Mooney, Ricky Mooney, and Gregory Allen Mooney; and one brother, Sonny Cowles.
She is survived by two daughters, Clisa (Paul) Ainsworth of Laurel and Lisa (Jeff) Cooper of Little Rock, AR; two sons, Jason (Metressa) Mooney of Purvis and Kevin (Corsita) Mooney of Lumberton; one sister, Edie Mae Cowles of San Diego, CA; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great grandchildren.
