Obituary for Mary Evelyn Bradley Harris

Services will be held on December 2nd at 11:30 am at Main Street Baptist Church for Mary Evelyn Bradley Harris, who was born in Hattiesburg on February 3, 1928 and died in Auburn, AL on November 27, 2017. She had been suffering with Parkinson's disease for nine years.
Mrs. Harris was a resident of Hattiesburg for over 75 years, during which she volunteered for the USO while attending Hattiesburg High. She earned her undergraduate degree at USM where she majored in Art. Mrs. Harris taught art at Biloxi High while also supervising the art programs at the five elementary schools for two years. She was a saleswoman with and co-owner of Compact Coffee Service with her husband, Phil Harris for many years, and then became an award winning artist specializing in florals and landscapes in the mediums of acrylic, oil, pastel and watercolor. Her paintings can be found in private and commercial collections throughout the Southeast, and in New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and the state of Washington. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and several art societies, including the South Mississippi Art Association.
Survivors include a son Bradley (Mary Anne) Harris of Petal, a daughter Jan (Jim) Newton of Auburn, AL, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and close companion Charles Baquie.
She was preceded in death by her husband Philip Harris Jr. and her parents Fred Bradley and Eloise Dearman Bradley.
Visitation begins at 10 am at the Main Street Baptist Church.
