Obituary for Mable Myrick McBay

Mable Myrick McBay, 92, of the Dixie Community, passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Dixie Baptist Church with interment in Dixie Baptist Church Cemetery to follow.
Mable Myrick married John Henry McBay on October 26, 1946. In 1954, they made their home in the Dixie Community in Forrest County, MS. Mable was a wife, mother, and a homemaker. She worked for Davis & Parker in Hattiesburg for several years and retired to be a full time stay at home mom. Her hobbies were canning from her garden, which she worked herself until her late eighties, quilting and crocheting many items for family and friends. She was very involved with the Forrest County 4-H Club Program as a mom leading and supporting her two sons. She was a member of Dixie Baptist Church for sixty-five years. She held various offices at the church and served on many committees. She was the Sunday School Secretary at Dixie Baptist Church for over twenty-five years. She was an active member of the church Women’s WMU Mission Group. Over the years, she went on over twenty mission trips with the Southern Baptist Home Mission Board, such as building a church in Oklahoma, volunteer work at the Baptist Women’s Center for Abused Women in Oklahoma City and several trips to foreign countries. In her later years, she supported many missionaries through the International Faith Partners.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Dianna McBay of Hattiesburg; daughter-in-law, Patricia McBay of Hattiesburg; six grandchildren, Glenda (Todd) Dixon, Carmen McBay Foust, both of Mt. Juliet, TN, LeAnn (Mike) Cieslikowski of Gilbert, AZ, Julia (Jeremy) McDuffie of Purvis, John McBay of Pensacola, FL, Emily (Ommarr) Armendariz of Dallas, TX; a step-grandchild, Kimberly Stokes of Waco, TX; nine great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; five step-great-great-grandchildren.
Mable is preceded in death by her husband, John Henry McBay; father, James Toy Myrick; mother, Mamie DeWitt Lawrence; son, David A. McBay; three sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. until service time Saturday, February 2, 2019 at the Dixie Baptist Church.
At the request of the family, memorials may be directed to the Dixie Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
