Obituary for Charles Fitzugh Fridge, Jr.

On Saturday, September 8, 2018, Charles “Charlie” Fitzugh Fridge Jr, loving father and husband, passed away at the age of 87 years. Charlie was born on October 8, 1930 and was reared in Alabama, an upbringing that fostered a love for the University of Alabama.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 22 years, Victoria (Gieger), son Douglas C. Fridge, daughter Nellie F. Alliston, step son Ken D. Hover and four grandchildren: Mason C. Fridge, Madison R. Alliston, Samantha B. Alliston and Garrett B. Fridge. He was preceded in death by his son Charles F Fitzugh III, his second wife Beverly J. Fridge (Jacobi) and his first wife Sally M. Fridge (Mullinex).
During his lifetime, Charlie was known as a hard worker and having a passion for building. This was evident in Charlie being co-owner of Fridge Construction Company for over 40 years. He often stated that he built all the 7-Elevens from Texas to Florida. In addition, Charlie oversaw the construction of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Gautier, the church where his only daughter was married. He also assisted in building the Vancleave Organized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints where a memorial service honoring his life will be held on Friday, September 21. Condolences are from 10-11 with the celebration service from 11-12. The address is 12205 Mt. Pleasant Road, Vancleave, MS.
Charlie will be missed by many who knew and loved him, especially during Alabama football game days when he often yelled Roll Tide. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association Mississippi Chapter at Alzheimer’s Association P.O. Box 96011 Washington D.C. 20090-6011. Please indicate that all funds are for the Mississippi Chapter.
