Obituary for Caroline Anne Pok Beatty

Caroline Anne Polk Beatty, 79, of Hattiesburg, MS, died July 24, 2017, at her home of colon cancer. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Metairie Lakelawn Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her husband and son.
Caroline was born October 2, 1937 in Prentiss, MS. The family moved to New Orleans when she was three. She earned her associates degree from Delgado Community College, majoring in Architectural and Interior Design. For many years she operated a design company called “Architectural and Interior Design by Caroline.” In New Orleans, she was active in the Airline Park Garden Club and Maned Downs Garden Club, winning Yard of the Month and Garden of the Year numerous times. She was also active in the Kiwanis Club.
After her husband died, she moved back to her birthplace of Prentiss where she was active in the American Federation of Women and President of the Mississippi Chapter; she was a Scarborough Hatter of the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Beatty was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Stanford G. Beatty, Jr. and her adopted son, Michael David Beatty; her parents, David Edward Polk (formerly of Prentiss) and Bert Weathersby Polk (formerly of Monticello).
She is survived by her adopted daughter, Kara Beatty Fluker and her husband, Marvin Fluker, Jr.; sister, Martha Matilda Polk; grandchildren, Rachael Ashley Lanning and Mark Christopher Lanning, Jr.; cousins, Jerry, Alma and Jeffery Polk; and her loyal buddy, Maltese, Sara.
