Alma Laverne Archer McRee, 82, of Brooklyn, died March 27, 2018, at Merit Health Wesley. Services will be at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 30, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Brooklyn followed by burial in Brooklyn Cemetery.
Laverne was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Brooklyn. She was a MOCA with the VFW and a volunteer with the Salvation Army. She was the “Mother of the Century” and beloved Nanny to many.
Laverne was preceded in death by two infant sons, Christopher McRee and Stacey McRee; her parents, Carness and Beulah Archer; and three sisters, Mary Rose Burch, Jean Bond and Faye Crawford.
She is survived by four children, Dwayne (Paula) McRee, Diane Mc Ree (Michael) Loper, Shannon McRee and Lisa McRee (Shelton) Boyle; six grandsons, Christopher Loper, Scottie Loper, Mickey McRee, Malachi McRee, Zachary Job Boyle and Skylar Jachob Boyle; one granddaughter, Zoey McRee; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Logan and Jaxton McRee; one brother, Carness H. “Buddy” Archer, Jr.; three sisters, Joan Nowell, Sherrye Saucier and Carol Prather; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg and Friday from 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the church.
